FAQ

Click on the links below to see the answers to some of the questions we most often hear. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like further information. Or you can ask us a question right here on our website!

Am I required to sign a lease?

No. You will be required to sign a Tenancy Agreement, which outlines the accommodation and service package you have selected. The agreement is on a month-to-month basis, which allows maximum flexibility for changing options.

Is the deposit refundable?

Yes. Your $500 deposit reserves your spot on the waitlist. It is placed in a non-interest bearing account and is applied to the first month’s rent when you move in. Should your plans change before that date, the deposit is 100% refundable.

Will my rent increase?

Yes. Managing rate increases against often-increasing operating expenses is a difficult balancing act, which we undergo every year. We will do our best to keep increases to a minimum while maintaining our high standard of services.

Is there a security deposit?

Yes. Your security deposit is equivalent to your first month’s rent.

Can I hang my pictures on the wall, and put up my own draperies?

Yes. Your suite is your home—we encourage you to make it comfortable and add your own personal touches. When you move in you will find your suite painted and equipped with window coverings in neutral tones. You may, at your own cost and within reason, install draperies, and hang pictures to personalize the suite as you like.

Who looks after general suite maintenance? Who will change my light bulbs?

Maintenance personnel are available for odd repairs and jobs of this nature. There is no cost for routine suite maintenance or repairs.

Can I smoke in my suite or in the dining room?

No. For the health and comfort of residents and staff, Rocky Ridge Retirement Community is a smoke-free building.

Can I control the heating in my suite?

Yes. We understand that not everyone feels comfortable at the same temperature, so each suite is equipped with its own heating system. You can vary the room temperature to suit your own comfort.

Can I cook in my suite?

Suites are equipped with kitchenette areas where you can keep a toaster, microwave, coffee maker, etc., to make light meals and snacks.

Can I have overnight guests? Where would they stay?

Yes. A cot is provided depending on availability, and on a first-come first-served basis, for an occasional overnight in-suite visitor for a nominal fee.

Where would my guest eat?

Your guests are welcome to attend the dining room with you. Reservations are required and the charges can be added to your monthly account.

Can visitors join activities? Can outside friends join in on activities?

Yes. Visitors and friends are welcome to participate in on-site marketing activity programs. We believe in the saying “the more, the merrier,” and we encourage the full use of the building’s amenities. Kindly note that space for activities are offered to residents first.

May I have wine in the dining room?

Yes. You may bring your own wine to the dining room.

When I am sick, will food be brought to my suite?

Yes. We offer complimentary in-suite meal service should you not feel well enough to go to the dining room. Simply let the charge nurse know and she will organize room service and see what you need.

Can my special diet be accommodated?

Yes. We can accommodate most therapeutic diets, including diabetic, low-sodium, and renal. As a general rule, our chefs are careful to ensure all meal selections are nutritionally balanced and residents can choose daily from a varied and health conscious menu.

What happens if my health changes?

The Rocky Ridge Retirement Community is partnered with Alberta Health Services. Once assessed, qualified and approved, we can provide care services through Homecare, assisting with basic care. Health professionals are available 24 hours a day to administer health-care services. You may retain your own physician or use the services of the physician that visits the Residence.
