Decade celebrations at Rocky Ridge!

July 31, 2019

This year, Rocky Ridge has been traveling back in time and celebrating a decade each month.  In August, we will boogie on down in the decade that brought us bell bottoms, tie dye and platform shoes!  The 1970s decade saw some significant events including the October Crisis, Team Canada’s withdrawal from the IIHF international hockey and The Beatles breaking up.   Canada hosted the Summer Olympics in Montreal in 1976 and won 5 silver and 6 bronze medals!  E-mails, Floppy discs, and Post-It Notes were all invented in the 1970s.

We will celebrate this far out decade with a fab 1970’s party including entertainment by – Walkin’ on Sunshine!  It’s going to be groovy!

Also in August, our bus will head to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary which has been offering a place for migratory birds to rest their wings for over 80 years.

New this month, the bus will also be heading to the local Bearspaw Farmer’s Market where vendors sell unique gifts, crafts, jewelry and baked goods.

After a somewhat rainy July, let’s hope August sees some finer weather for our Courtyard Games and Socials!
